About the Tour

This private tour begins in Lisbon or Porto, taking you to explore two of the most charming cities in Portugal: Coimbra and Aveiro. A day full of history, culture, and traditional flavors.

Coimbra – The City of Students

The first stop will be in Coimbra, one of the oldest cities in the country and one of its largest academic centers. The visit starts at the prestigious University of Coimbra, founded in 1290, where the iconic Paço das Escolas and the impressive Joanina Library, built between 1717 and 1728, stand out. Considered one of the most beautiful Baroque libraries in the world, it reflects Dom João V's commitment to education and culture, being a true historical and architectural treasure.

We will then visit the Sé Velha de Coimbra, one of the most notable examples of Romanesque architecture in Portugal, dating from the 12th century. Next, we will explore the historic center, with its narrow streets full of life, where tradition and modernity meet.

⚠️ Note: A visit to the University requires advance booking, as entry is limited. Please inform us when booking your tour to secure your ticket (not included in the tour price).

Mealhada – Leitão à Bairrada (Optional)

If you wish to complement the experience with a gastronomic touch, you can opt for a stop in Mealhada, famous for Leitão à Bairrada. Slowly roasted in a wood oven for about two hours, this dish is a true regional specialty, often accompanied by a local sparkling wine.

Aveiro – The “Venice of Portugal”

After the visit to Coimbra, we head to Aveiro, a charming city known for its canals and the emblematic moliceiros, boats that were once used for harvesting seaweed. Here, you can enjoy a boat ride along the canals, admiring the colorful Art Nouveau facades and the city's unique beauty.

The visit continues through the historic center, where you can explore iconic places such as the Mercado de Aveiro, one of the architectural legacies of Gustave Eiffel in Portugal. We cannot miss trying the famous Ovos Moles, a conventual sweet made from egg yolks and sugar, wrapped in a thin layer of wafer – a true delicacy of the region.

Praia da Barra and the Aveiro Lighthouse

The last stop will be at Praia da Barra, where you’ll find the Aveiro Lighthouse (or Farol da Barra), the tallest in Portugal and one of the largest in Europe. Here, you can enjoy an incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean before returning.
